A new coupling for 4WD vehicles, "AXC-II-VL", was adopted into the new model, Daihatsu "Atrai 7" of Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd.
A new coupling "AXC-II-VL" for 4WD vehicles, which Fuji Univance Corp. developed was adopted for the new model "AtraiĀ|7" which was released onto the market by Daihatsu Motor Co. Ltd. on July 7, 2000.
This new coupling is a "hydraulic torque splitter for full-time 4-wheel drive" which ensures a natural handling performance on winding roads, high running through performance on low É -roads such as snowy roads and off roads and fuel economy close to that of 2WD vehicles.
This new coupling was based on the "AXC (Axial Piston Pump Coupling)" which Fuji Univance Corp. developed, and this is a highly efficient hydraulic torque splitter for full-time 4-wheel drive with a new Automatic Torque Variable Mechanism and Auto Lockup Mechanism.
Major characteristics are that the AXC-II-VL automatically absorbs speed difference between the front and rear wheels of 4WD vehicles, which prevents the phenomenon of tight corner braking which occurs when turning a corner. When there is a large speed difference between the front and rear wheels, as in snowy road conditions, the torque is split idealistically and provides great drive force.
The Automatic Torque Variable Mechanism automatically switches the torque to be generated in front wheels in two steps according to a change in vehicle speed. This ensures a high running performance when necessary while fuel economy at medium and high speeds close to that of 2WD vehicles. When a large torque is required as in rough road conditions, the Auto Lockup Mechanism automatically closes the orifice, allowing drivability similar to rigid 4WD vehicles.
